HLTAID014 & HLTAID015 (Advanced First Aid & Advanced Resuscitation)

Blended Program (this course includes online learning and face-to-face training components)

    • In real emergencies, things don’t always go to plan. Situations such as multiple casualties, moving injured people, or treating serious illnesses and injuries can be overwhelming. That’s why it’s so important to train in advance—so you’ll know exactly what to do when it matters most.

    • Our Advanced First Aid and CPR Course use practical, hands-on simulations to prepare you for challenging, real-life scenarios. You’ll build the skills and confidence to coordinate a response, manage multiple casualties, and deliver advanced first aid until professional help arrives. Training is delivered in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other recognised national standards, ensuring you learn the most up-to-date and safe practices for the workplace, community, and beyond.

    • Through realistic, hands-on scenarios, you will learn how to use and maintain specialised equipment for first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen delivery.

  • Blended Program (this course includes online learning and face-to-face training components)

This course can be delivered and assessed either at your workplace or at a Heart Restart training venue.

  • This course covers both essential and advanced first aid, including:

    • Performing CPR and life-saving first aid.

    • Managing heat- and cold-related conditions (hypothermia and hyperthermia).

    • Responding to head, neck, and spinal injuries.

    • Controlling life-threatening bleeding with tourniquets and haemostatic dressings.

    • Treating casualties in shock.

    • Safely using oxygen therapy in complex emergencies.

Through realistic training scenarios, you’ll also gain hands-on experience with specialised first aid and resuscitation equipment, so you’re fully prepared to step in during critical moments. Challenging situations, such as multiple casualty incidents, having to move or extricate casualties, or treating potentially fatal illnesses and injuries are high risk. It is imperative that training occurs to be able to know what to do when confronted with a real-life incident. This course provides practical simulated real-life situations to learn and gain the confidence to coordinate and manage a response and provide advanced first aid in line with legal, community and workplace considerations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other Australian national peak clinical bodies until emergency services arrive.

This course includes instruction on first aid and CPR, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as hypothermia or hyperthermia, head, neck and spinal injuries, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, managing a casualty in shock and providing oxygen in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings. Simulated real-life situations will be used to develop the skills and knowledge for using and maintaining specialised equipment for the provision of first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen therapy.
