HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
Nationally Recognised Training
Delivered in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
Heart Restart's First Aid and CPR program provides practical, hands-on training aligned with legal, workplace and community requirements, Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and national clinical standards.
This course equips participants with the skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate, effective first aid to anyone experiencing a sudden illness or injury.
This course is delivered as a blended program combining online learning with face-to-face practical training.
- Online pre-course learning component
- Hands-on practical training and assessment
- Training available at your workplace or a Heart Restart training venue
Participants will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently respond to a wide range of first aid emergencies.
- How to assess and prioritise the needs of a casualty, ensure safety and access emergency services
- Essential first aid techniques including CPR, AED use, administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis, assisting with asthma medication and helping a choking casualty
- Appropriate immobilisation and management of fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains and envenomation such as snake or spider bites
- Management of non-life-threatening bleeding and shock
- Basic anatomy and physiology, including CPR differences between adults, children and infants
- Understanding the chain of survival and the importance of timely emergency response
- Reporting and documenting incidents accurately and reviewing responses to improve skills and response times
- Recognising psychological impacts of emergencies and knowing when to seek additional support
Blended Delivery
This course includes online pre-course learning followed by practical face-to-face training.
Duration: 6 hours face-to-face plus online pre-course work
Your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a combination of practical hands-on tasks, simulated emergency scenarios and a short written test.

Per Participant
Includes training, assessment and nationally recognised certification upon successful completion.
To participate in this course, students must be physically able to complete the practical activities required.
This includes performing:
- 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping
To complete the online/pre-course study component, students will need access to:
- Computer, tablet or smartphone
- Internet connection
When you successfully complete this course, you will receive Statements of Attainment for:
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
In line with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, first aid certificates should be renewed every 3 years.
