This combined Advanced First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation course provides participants with the skills and confidence required to manage complex emergency situations until professional medical assistance arrives.

Using realistic simulated emergency scenarios, participants will develop the ability to coordinate responses, provide advanced first aid and perform advanced resuscitation procedures in workplace and community environments.

The course covers advanced first aid management, oxygen therapy, CPR and the use of specialised resuscitation equipment in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and recognised national standards.

This training prepares participants to respond effectively to serious injuries, medical emergencies and challenging situations where advanced first aid skills are required.

This course is delivered as a blended program combining online learning with a face-to-face practical assessment session.

The practical session focuses on developing advanced first aid skills, emergency response coordination and the safe use of specialised equipment.

Participants will develop skills in:

  • Providing first aid and CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and national clinical standards
  • Managing complex conditions including hypothermia, hyperthermia, shock and head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Controlling life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
  • Administering oxygen during a range of emergency situations
  • Using and maintaining specialised first aid, resuscitation and oxygen therapy equipment

This comprehensive program ensures participants are prepared to deliver advanced first aid safely, effectively and in line with workplace, community and legal requirements.

This course is delivered through a blended learning format combining online study with a practical face-to-face assessment session.

Online Learning Component

Participants complete online learning covering the required theory and knowledge before attending the practical session.


Face-to-Face Practical Training & Assessment

The practical session focuses on advanced first aid skills, emergency scenarios, equipment use and assessment activities.

Duration: Minimum 6.5 hours face-to-face training

Your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a combination of practical hands-on activities, simulated emergency scenarios and a written assessment.

Practical Assessment

  • Advanced first aid response techniques

  • Safe use of specialised first aid and resuscitation equipment
  • Responding to simulated workplace and community emergencies

Written Assessment

Participants will complete a short multiple-choice quiz to confirm their understanding of advanced first aid knowledge, procedures and emergency response requirements.

Includes online learning, practical training, assessment and nationally recognised certification upon successful completion.

To participate in this course, students must be physically able to complete the practical activities required.

This includes performing:

  • 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping

  • Internet connection

When you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid

HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy

In line with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines:

  • First aid certificates should be renewed every 3 years.
  • Advanced resuscitation skills should be refreshed every 12 months to maintain current skills and confidence.
