Our Advanced Resuscitation Course is delivered in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice. It is designed for anyone who may need to provide advanced first aid, CPR, and oxygen therapy in challenging situations—whether in the community or workplace. Through realistic, hands-on scenarios, you will learn how to use and maintain specialised equipment for first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen delivery.

Blended Program (this course includes online learning and face-to-face training components). This course can be delivered and assessed either at your workplace or at a Heart Restart training venue.

• Advanced CPR and first aid techniques

• Safe administration of oxygen at the correct flow rate

• Use of airway adjuncts to keep airways clear

• Controlling life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings

• Recording casualty information, reporting incidents, and completing workplace documentation

• Post-incident debriefing, including recognising areas for improvement, understanding psychological impacts, and seeking support when needed

Pre-Course Online learning: 2 hours, Face-to-face training: 4-5 hours

As part of your training, your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a mix of practical hands-on tasks, simulated emergency scenarios, and a short-written test.

To take part in this course, you'll need to be physically able to complete the practical activities—this includes performing 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping.

To complete the online/pre-course study, students will need access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.

When you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment with the following units included in your certificate: HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and HLTAID015 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy. In line with the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines: First aid certificates should be renewed every 3 years. CPR and advanced resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) should be refreshed every 12 months to stay current and confident. This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
