HLTAID012 -Provide First Aid in an Education & Care Setting

  • This course provides specialised Child-Focused first aid training, covering high-risk scenarios such as anaphylaxis and asthma, as well as common injuries and resuscitation techniques. Delivered by Heart Restart trainers with extensive experience in Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Education, and Leadership, our instructors share practical knowledge and guidance to build your confidence in providing first aid when it matters most.

  • Blended Program (this course includes online learning and face-to-face training components). This course can be delivered and assessed either at your workplace or at a Heart Restart training venue.

    • Apply the DRSABCD action plan

    • Perform CPR and manage unconscious, breathing casualties

    • Use a defibrillator (AED)

    • Respond to anaphylaxis and asthma emergencies

    • Manage wounds, bleeding, burns, and shock

    • Treat strains, sprains, fractures, dislocations, and head, neck, or spinal injuries

    • Handle choking, bites, stings, and poisons

    • Recognise heat- and cold-related illnesses

    • Implement infection control, safety, and risk management

    • Navigate legal and workplace considerations

    • Basic anatomy and physiology, including the differences between adults, children, and infants in relation to CPR and emergency care


  • 7 hours face-to-face (plus online pre-course work)

  • As part of your training, your skills and knowledge will be assessed through a mix of practical hands-on tasks, simulated emergency scenarios, and a short-written test.

  • $180

  • To take part in this course, you'll need to be physically able to complete the practical activities—this includes performing 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor without stopping.

  • To complete the online/pre-course study, students will need access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.

  • When you successfully complete this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for: HLTAID012-Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting and HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
